The Hewitt-Trussville Wrestling team traveled to Huntsville this weekend for the AHSAA State Tournament. The Huskies finished in 5th place in the 7A standings. This season marked the fifth year in a row that the Huskies finished in the top five.
Deuce Alston captured an individual state title in the 190lb class. Alston went a perfect 3-0 on the weekend and beat Enterprise's Gavin Whiteside 12-2 in the finals.
Rivers Harbison finished 3rd in the 106lb division. Harbison won the 3rd place match by pin.
Bradley Hastings finished his HT career with a 3rd place finish at 138. Hastings won 16-1 in his 3rd place match.
Trip Cole earned 18 teams points on the weekend and finished in 4th place in the 175lb division.
Braxton Reaves won three matches this weekend and finished 4th in the 215lb division.
Charlie Buttiker earned nine team points and finished 6th in the 165lb division.Â
Mallorie Selesky qualified for state in the first year that AHSAAÂ sanctioned Girls Wrestling as a championship sport. Selesky notched a win at the state event.Â
