Hewitt-Trussville Softball beat Spain Park 7-4 on Thursday night to advance to the championship round of the 7A Area 6 Tournament. Thursday's win also guaranteed the Huskies a spot in next week's AHSAA Regional Tournament in Montgomery.
Thursday's game was scoreless until the 3rd inning.
Anyce Harvey was hit by a pitch with one out. Later in the inning,
Kenleigh Cahalan homered to left field to give the Huskies a 2-0 lead. Spain Park scored in the bottom half of the inning to cut the lead in half. In the 5th inning,
Hannah Dorsett singled to reach base. Cahalan again homered to increase the lead to 4-1.
The Huskies added three more runs in the 6th inning. Madi Mitchell singled home a run, then
Anyce Harvey hit a two-run shot to left field. Harvey was 2-3 on the night with two RBI's and two runs scored.
Kenleigh Cahalan was 2-4 with four runs batted in.
Rylee Tyree added two hits and scored a run.
Tori Hyde was the winning pitcher as she pitched 6.2 innings and allowed just three runs.
