Softball Beats Sparkman to Advance to Winner's Bracket Game in North Regional

Hewitt-Trussville softball continued its strong postseason run Monday with a 6-1 win over Sparkman to advance to the championship game.

The Huskies wasted no time getting on the board, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first inning. Kylie Grace Hendrick drove in the first run with a single before Taylor McLaughlin delivered a two-run triple to extend the lead. Emily Renda followed with an RBI single to cap off the early offensive surge.

Hewitt-Trussville added another run in the third inning when Chloe Krackenberger battled through a nine-pitch at-bat before lining a single to center field to make it 5-0.

Harper Looney was dominant in the circle, pitching a complete game while allowing just one run on three hits. Looney struck out five batters over seven innings to earn the win.

McLaughlin and Renda each finished with two RBIs, while Hendrick and Presley Hull collected two hits apiece for the Huskies.

With the victory, Hewitt-Trussville advances to face Vestavia in the winner's bracket game today at 3:00 p.m in Florence.
