The Hewitt-Trussville Softball team finished second at the AHSAA 7A Area 6 Tournament on Monday to clinch a spot in the East Regional. The Huskies defeated Vestavia 8-0 in the deciding game.
Zaylen Tucker pitched a complete game allowing just three hits and striking out seven batters.
Corey Goguts was 3-3 and homered twice. Tucker added two hits and scored twice. Later in the evening, the Huskies dropped a 7-2 contest to Hoover in the Area championship game.
The Huskies will join Hoover, Thompson, and Tuscaloosa County in Albertville next week at the East Regional. The top two teams will advance to the State Tournament. The Huskies will open play on Tuesday at 9am against Thompson.
