Boys Soccer Wins Weekend Tournament

The Hewitt-Trussville Boys Soccer team won a pair of games this weekend and captured the Capital City Cup title. The Huskies opened the event with a 4-1 win over Trinity. Sam Sharp assisted Alec Heslop to open the scoring. Later in the half, Sharp scored off an assist from Asher Tharp. In the second half, Heslop scored off an assist from Jonathon Emmerich. Heslop would find the back of the net again to wrap up the scoring.

In game two, the Huskies were down 1-0 to Wetumpka at halftime. Sam Sharp scored on a penalty kick to tie the game after Carson Jackson drew the foul. Sharp gave the Huskies the lead off an assist from Cayden Watanabe. Later in the half, Watanabe scored the final goal of the game to secure a 3-1 win.

The Huskies fell to Pike Road 2-1 in the finale. Watanabe scored a goal for HT. The +6 differential was enough Hewitt-Trussville to earn the tournament title.

Next, the Huskies will hit the road on Tuesday as they travel to face Stanhope-Elmore.
