The Hewitt-Trussville Boys Soccer team earned a dramatic 2-1 overtime victory at Oak Mountain Tuesday night, scoring in the final seconds to secure the win. The Huskies improve to 9-2-2 overall and 2-1 in 7A Area 6 play.
Oak Mountain struck first in the 20th minute to take a 1-0 lead into halftime. Early in the second half, Jason Merriweather found the back of the net to even the score, with an assist from Stephen Delfin.
After multiple scoring chances, the match headed into overtime tied 1-1. In the final seconds, Steven Richards chased down the ball and Jonathon Emmerich delivered a cross into the box. Logan Colburn finished the play with a header through traffic that found the back of the net just before time expired, sealing the win for the Huskies.
