Hewitt-Trussville Defensive Coordinator Sean Talsma was honored Monday as the 7A Football Assistant Coach of the Year. The announcement was made by the Alabama Football Coaches Association. Talsma will be honored in January at a banquet in Montgomery.

Talsma helped lead the Huskies to a 8-2 regular season record and a playoff appearance. This season marked the least amount of points given up by a HT defense since 1992. The defensive group was the best 7A scoring defense since 2021. Coach Talsma's unit collected 21 turnovers this year and had 25 sacks. The defense gave up just 213 yards a game on average.
