Hewitt-Trussville Softball improved to 15-4 overall and 1-0 in 7A Area 6 play with a 10-3 win over Spain Park Tuesday night. The Huskies have now won 12 consecutive games. HT got off to a quick start on Tuesday night scoring two runs in the 2nd inning and four runs in the 3rd inning to build a 6-0 lead.
AhKeela Honeycutt had the big hit early as she blasted a grand slam in the 3rd inning to give the Huskies a commanding lead.
After the Jaguars cut the lead to 6-3, the Huskies responded with four more runs in the 6th inning.
Hannah Dorsett hit a two-run home run to center field. Dorsett finished the game 2-5 at the plate.
Zaylen Tucker,
Chaney Peters, and
Lexi Kelly all had two hits.
Gracie Reeves was 3-4 with a RBI and a run scored.
Kate Hicks pitched a complete game to pick up the win. She only gave up five hits and struck out five batters.
HT will be off until Tuesday March 21 when they travel to Hartselle. The Huskies will be back in Area play on March 23 when they visit Chelsea.
