Jeff Schrupp is in his 5th year at Hewitt-Trussville. This will be his 19th year in coaching at various levels. He coached three years at Clay-Chalkville Middle School with the last two as the head coach, winning a Jefferson County Championship. He spent five years as the hitting coach for the varsity team at Clay-Chalkville and was a part of the 2003 state championship team as well as the 2005 and 2006 state runner-up teams. Coach Schrupp also served as the hitting and infield coach at Pelham High School from 2007-2012.
Prior to coaching baseball at the middle and high school levels, Coach Schrupp spent nine seasons as a professional umpire. He spent seasons in the New York-Penn League, South Atlantic League, Florida State League, AA Southern League and AAA International League, where he ended his career as a crew chief.
Coach Schrupp is from Excelsior, Minnesota, where he graduated from Mayer Lutheran High School. He played college baseball at Concordia University in Mequon, Wisconsin from 1985-1989. He was a 4-year starter and senior team captain. He earned his undergraduate degree in Education (History) and completed his master's degree at UAB. He also completed his EDS in education at UAB and is currently working on his PhD in Educational Leadership.
Coach Schrupp is married to the former Kelly Trotman of Birmingham, a Samford University graduate with an MBA; she is the Business Development Manager for Bradley, Arant, Boult, Cummings in Birmingham, Alabama.
