Hewitt-Trussville is headed to the Final Four after beating Tuscaloosa County 5-2 in Game 3 today.
The Huskies bounced back after Friday's tough 5-4 loss in Game 1 by shutting out the Wildcats 8-0 in Game 2 behind a dominant performance from Jace Riggan to force the deciding game.
Saturday was tight throughout. Tuscaloosa County tied the game at 2-2 in the fifth, but the Huskies answered in the sixth inning. Andrew Walker gave Hewitt-Trussville the lead with an RBI single, while Blake Bales and Wes Hardy added two more runs to make it 5-2.
Cale McIntosh went the distance on the mound, striking out nine and allowing just four hits in the complete-game win.
Hudson Mitchell, Sawyer Jackson, and Andrew Walker each had two hits for the Huskies, who also stole five bases in the win.
Hewitt-Trussville will host Thompson on Friday in the Class 7A state semifinals.
