The Hewitt-Trussville Girls Soccer team battled to a 2-1 win at Hoover on Friday night in the 7A Area 6 opener. The match was tied 1-1 after overtime so the result was decided by penalty kicks. The Huskies beat the Bucs 4-2 in kicks to secure the win. HT is now 7-2-1 overall on the season and 1-0 in 7A Area 6.
Hoover scored first in the match to take an early 1-0 lead. Later in the first half,
Jocelyn Davis scored on a penalty kick to tie the game. In PK's Hoover led 1-0 after the first round.
Lauren Melton then scored and it was tied 1-1 after two rounds.
Janie Steele scored and Hoover missed, so the Huskies led 2-1 after three rounds.
Brecken Phillips scored and the Huskies led 3-2 after four rounds.
Peerson Waller then scored the winning goal.
The Huskies will have a pair of Area matches this week at Vestavia and Oak Mountain.
