Hewitt-Trussville Baseball defeated Central Phenix City 6-0 on Friday night to take a 1-0 lead in the state final series. Brooks McRae singled to reach base in the 2nd inning. Brett Moseley then laced a triple to score McRae. Moseley would score later in the inning on a wild pitch. The Huskies added four runs in the 4th inning capped by a two-run single by McRae. Ethan Duhon added three hits.

Riley Quick threw a complete game shutout. Quick struck out five batters and only gave up three hits.

Game two of the series will be played at Jacksonville State University at 10am Saturday. Game three (if necessary) would follow. Gates to the stadium will open at 9am Saturday.
