Hewitt-Trussville Baseball is heading back to the playoffs! The Huskies defeated Spain Park 9-1 on Tuesday night to clinch a playoff berth. Coach
Jeff Mauldin's team is now 24-2-1 overall on the season and 4-1 in 7A Area 6 play. HT and Spain Park will meet again on Thursday night in the final regular season Area game.
The Huskies had to rally late on Tuesday night to pick up the win.
Jack Ollis singled home a run in the bottom of the 5th to tie the game 1-1. HT then put the game away with eight runs in the 6th inning, all of which came with two outs.
Carson Wideman started the scoring with a hard hit ball up the middle that scored two runs.
Ethan Duhon followed with a double that scored two runs.
Kurt Kizer also had a double that scored two more runs.
Riley Quick was the winning pitcher. He struck out 10 batters and allowed one run on three hits.Â
