Maggie Rasberry

On June 12, 2023, Maggie Rasberry was approved as a HTHS social studies teacher. Ms. Rasberry will also serve as the Head Varsity Girls Golf Coach.

Ms. Rasberry has a strong golf background. In high school, she played for Mountain Brook and helped the team win back-to-back state championships in 2006 and 2007. During her senior year, the team was unable to get the three-peat, but she placed 12th in the state in 2008.

Although she was recruited to play college golf, Rasberry chose to attend Auburn University to pursue a degree in General Social Science Education. Upon completing her undergraduate degree in 2012, she continued her love for the game when she was hired at Clay-Chalkville High School. She was the assistant girls golf coach from 2013-2014 and took over the program in 2015. During that time, the Lady Cougars saw incredible success. They won the Jefferson County Tournament in 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018. They were runner ups in 2014 and 2019. The Lady Cougars also made school history by qualifying for the Sub-State Tournament as a team in 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2019.

“I am thrilled for the opportunity to help build upon the Hewitt-Trussville girls golf program,“ Rasberry said. “Girls golf has progressed so much since my days on the course, but I know our team is up for the challenge. I am hopeful that we can compete for championships, but more importantly, teach the girls to love a sport that builds character and resilience.”

Trussville City Schools Athletics Director Lance Walker said, “We are excited that Maggie is coming to Trussville to teach and lead our girls golf program. She has a passion for the game and is committed to making a positive impact on our students. The future is bright for HT Girls Golf, and I am excited to support the team under Coach Rasberry’s leadership.”

Rasberry has taught at Clay-Chalkville High School since 2012 and has taught a variety of classes including: Advanced World History, AP Psychology, AP European History, and US History. She was named the Clay-Chalkville Teacher of the Year in 2022 and was a top-five finalist for Jefferson County Teacher of the Year as well.

There will be a meet and greet with Coach Rasberry on Wednesday, June 28, at 5pm in the HTHS Arena lobby.
