Daniel Decker

Daniel Decker has been approved as a Biomedical Science Career Tech teacher at Hewitt-Trussville High School and Varsity Boys Soccer Head Coach. Decker comes to Trussville from Shelby County High School where he taught Science and started the Soccer program. He has been the Varsity Head coach for the last four years.

 

Decker is originally from the Birmingham area and graduated from Chelsea High School. At Chelsea, Decker was named offensive player of the year in his Junior season and was the team captain his Senior season. 

 

After High School, Decker attended Union University where he played Soccer for three years at the NAIA level. He earned his degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology with a focus on Pre-Medicine. After spending a few years in the medical field, he earned his Master’s degree in Education specializing in Chemistry. 

 

Decker said, “I am very excited to continue my career at Hewitt-Trussville High School as the Head Boys Soccer Coach and Biomedical Science Career Tech teacher. My philosophy in life is enjoy what you are doing and always do your part to the best of your ability. This will very much extend not only into my classroom but on to the soccer field.”

 

Trussville City Schools Athletics Director Lance Walker said, “We are excited to welcome Coach Decker and his family to Trussville. I have enjoyed visiting with him and I am excited about his vision for the future of HT Boys Soccer. Coach Decker comes highly recommended and we look forward to supporting him in every way that we can.”

 

Decker and his wife Jessie have two children, Olivia and JP.
