Hewitt-Trussville alum Caraline Cox has been hired by Trussville City Schools to serve as a HTHS teacher and Varsity Head Tennis coach.
Cox has over 10 years of playing and coaching experience. For the last two seasons she has coached at HTMS and HTHS. She planned and conducted practices focusing on fundamentals, match strategies, and prepared middle school athletes for high school. Cox has also served as the Tennis and Pickleball Professional at Life Time Fitness and was a Tennis Camp Assistant at Pine Tree Country Club.
Coach Cox played five years for the HT Varsity Tennis team. She was the State Runner-Up at #3 singles in her Freshman year, The team advanced to the State Tournament three times during her career. She was part of two Sectional championship teams. Cox played #1 singles and #1 doubles and was named to the AHSAA North-South All-Star team.
Coach Cox said, "I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to return to Hewitt-Trussville and lead a program that means so much to me. I'm ready to hit the ground running as we build a culture of consistency, hard work, growth, and competitiveness, while developing confident athletes on and off the court."
HTHS Principal Aaron King stated, "Coach Cox represents what we want our programs to produce. She is a Hewitt-Trussville graduate who understands our culture, standards, and expectations. She has already invested in our students, and we are confident she will lead this program with heart, consistency, and purpose."
Athletics Director Lance Walker added, "I am excited to have Caraline Cox on board to lead our Tennis program. She was a standout student and player for the Huskies and she has a passion for teaching and coaching. I am excited about the plans she has to help our students reach their potential both on and off the court."
Coach Cox graduated from Samford University with a degree in Engineering Physics.
