Ashelie Halla

Ashelie Halla begins her first year at Hewitt-Trussville High School as Varsity Head Cheer Coach and English teacher. She brings more than 30 years of cheerleading, coaching, and educational experience at both the high school and collegiate levels.
A graduate of Tuscaloosa County High School, Halla served as cheer captain for two years before continuing her cheerleading career at the University of Montevallo, where she cheered all four years. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Marketing from the University of Montevallo and later completed a Master’s degree in English Language Arts from Samford University.

Prior to joining Hewitt-Trussville, Halla served as Head Cheer Coach at Spain Park High School from 2014–2023, where she established the school’s competition cheer program and guided teams to top finishes at the National High School Cheerleading Championship. She also spent twelve years as Spirit Coordinator and Cheer/Dance Coach at UAB, overseeing the co-ed cheer squad, all-girl cheer squad, and Golden Girls Dance Team. Under her leadership, UAB teams earned numerous Top-10 national finishes and were featured on CBS, ESPN, ESPN2, and ABC.

In addition to her coaching experience, Halla worked for the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) for five years as an instructor and has served as a seminar speaker for cheer and dance programs across the country. She has choreographed championship-winning routines at both the high school and collegiate levels in five different states.
Halla has been recognized nationally, earning selection to Who’s Who Among America’s Cheer Coaches three times. She is entering her 14th year in education and is excited to continue the tradition of excellence that defines Hewitt-Trussville Cheer while helping student-athletes grow as leaders both on and off the competition floor.

She and her husband, Clay, have three children and are proud grandparents to their grandson, Banks.
