Coach Jones is an educator, football coach, and mentor entering his fourth season at
Hewitt-Trussville High School. A former collegiate and professional football player, he brings a
wealth of experience and a passion for developing young men both on and off the field.
Coach Jones attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), where he played
football and served as a team captain. During his time at UAB, he helped play a role in
revitalizing the football program following its shutdown. He later continued his playing career
professionally, most notably with the St. Louis BattleHawks of the USFL.
After his playing career, Coach Jones transitioned into education and coaching. He has served
in several educational roles, including classroom teacher, alternative school director, and
behavioral coach. Prior to joining Hewitt-Trussville, he taught and coached at Thompson High
School.
Coach Jones believes football is a powerful vehicle for teaching life lessons and is committed to
instilling the values of preparation, perseverance, discipline, and accountability in his
players. His goal is to help student-athletes become successful not only on the field, but also in
the classroom and in life.
Outside of coaching and education, Coach Jones is a devoted husband and father. He and his
wife, Donishia, have been together for more than 12 years and have three children and a dog.
His family serves as a constant source of motivation and inspiration.
