Sean Talsma is entering his 8th season as the defensive coordinator at Hewitt-Trussville. During his time the Huskies defense has shown versatility in their schemes, aggressive play, and a stingy scoring defense. In 2024 the defense allowed just 9.5 points per game. Coach Talsma was named the 2025 Alabama High School Broyles Award Winner.
Before coming to Hewitt-Trussville, Coach T was the defensive coordinator at Clay-Chalkville for 13 years helping lead the Cougars to a state championship in 2014. During his coaching career he has spent time at Pelham H.S., 5 years in Georgia at Twiggs Co., Henry Co., and Baldwin Co. Talsma started his coaching career in Michigan at Marcellus H.S.
Sean Talsma played college football at Hope College in Michigan, where he was a three year starter at Corner.
Coach Talsma’s primary support system is his wife Jasmine who he credits for helping him maintain a balanced lifestyle between intense football seasons and family time. She is a 4th grade teacher at Paine Elementary. His oldest son is Roman (8) and the couple's youngest son is Creed (4).
