Huskies Softball Wins Area Opener

The Hewitt-Trussville Softball team improved to 15-2 overall and 1-0 in 7A Area 6 play with a 3-1 win at Oak Mountain on Tuesday night.

Harper Looney delivered a strong performance in relief, pitching six innings to earn the win. Looney allowed just five hits and did not give up a run while keeping the Eagles off the board the rest of the night.

Cate Bruce recorded two hits and scored a run to help lead the Huskies offensively. The game was tied 1-1 in the fifth inning when Hewitt-Trussville loaded the bases. Chloe Krackenberger came through with a clutch single to drive in two runs and give the Huskies the lead.

Presley Hull, Corey Goguts, Taylor McLaughlin, and Hannah Claire Miller each added hits in the victory.

The Huskies will return home to Roberts Stadium on Wednesday night to host Gardendale.
