Hewitt-Trussville Baseball defeated James Clemens 8-0 on Saturday in game 3 of their quarterfinal series to advance to the state semifinals. This marks the 7th time in school history that the Huskies have advanced to the Final 4.
Logan Phillips pitched a complete game and did not give up a run. Phillips allowed four hits and struck out five batters.
The Huskies got on the board in the 3rd inning as they plated three runs.
Kurt Kizer singled to score
Jack Ollis for the first run of the game. Later in the inning, Brooks McRae doubled to score Kizer and
Riley Quick. HT added to the lead in the 4th inning.
Jack Ollis was hit by a pitch and later scored on an error.
Kurt Kizer then doubled to score
Ethan Duhon. The Huskies would add three insurance runs over the next two innings.
The Huskies will host Vestavia in the 7A semifinals. Games one and two will be played on Friday May 13. Game three (if necessary) will be played on Saturday May 14. More information concerning the semifinal series will be announced in the coming days.
