This is my 28th year as head Cross Country / Track & Field Coach. Throughout the years, the program has grown and has had 2 state championships, 5 state runners-up, multiple individual state champions, one individual national champion, 3 All-Americans, and over 70 who have gone on to run at the next level. I'm proud to be with a program that focuses on individual growth, both athletically and personally. After starting my teaching career at Hewitt-Trussville Middle School with PE, I then taught Sciences at the middle school, the junior high, and the high school. Currently, I work with students who working on credit recovery. When not coaching or teaching, I enjoy traveling and spending time with my granddaughter and family. I have been married to Anita 37 years. We have two daughters (Catie and Amanda), a son-in-law (Andrew), and a granddaughter (Anderson).
The Trussville City Schools Board of Education is pleased to announce Herbert Clark, a respected teacher and coach, as the new Head Girls Track Coach for Hewitt-Trussville High School. Mr. Clark will teach math at HTHS and also coach Girls Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field. TCS welcomes Mr. Clark to the team!

Clark comes to Trussville City Schools from G.W. Carver High School where he taught Math and served as Head Track Coach. He holds a Bachelors in Mathematics from Alabama State, a Masters in Secondary Mathematics, and a Masters in Educational Leadership from UAB. He is currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program at Auburn University. At Carver High School, Coach Clark was a part of the teaching teams for the Academies of Engineering and Health Sciences. Clark has 13 years of coaching experience. He coached for seven years in Middle School (Wilkerson Middle, Whatley K-8, and Hayes K-8) and six years in High School (Woodlawn and G.W. Carver). He has coached one middle school championship team and two high school championship teams. His squads have won numerous City Invitational and Relay Championships. Throughout the years, many of his athletes have signed college scholarships.

He is highly respected in the Birmingham and State track community. He has produced many all-state athletes as well as many medal winners. I am confident that he will coach many of our athletes to the elite level also."

Clark and his wife Natalie have been married for six years and they have three sons: Herbert III, Nathan Scott, and Carter James.
