Girls Basketball Wins at Huffman

The fourth-ranked Hewitt-Trussville Girls Basketball team defeated Huffman 68-46 on Saturday night at Huffman. The game was played as a part of the 2018 Viking Classic. With the win, the Huskies improved to 18-2 overall on the season.

Hewitt once again needed a third quarter rally to get past a talented Huffman team. The Vikings led for much of the first half and took a 29-25 lead into the half. That is when the Huskies offense caught fire as they outscored Huffman 20-6 in the third quarter. Amiya Payne hit two three-pointers in the quarter including a long triple at the buzzer.

Leah Harrison led Hewitt in scoring as she totaled 23 points for the game. Amiya Payne scored 18 points and Erica Jones scored 16 points.

Erica Jones scored nine points in the quarter as the Huskies increased their lead.

Jones led the offensive attack as she scored 19 points on the night. Amiya Payne added 11 points and Morgan Kirk scored 10 points. The Huskies will travel to Grissom on January 19 for their next Area game.
