The Hewitt-Trussville Girls Basketball team is off to a fast start in postseason play. The Huskies are hosting the 7A Area 7 Tournament at Bryant Bank Arena. On Tuesday night, they began their playoff run with a 68-39 win over Gadsden City. Hewitt advanced to the championship game on Saturday night vs Grissom. Tip-off is set for 5:30pm.

The Huskies wasted little time in Tuesday's opener. With the game tied 3-3, Hewitt went on a 10-0 run highlighted by Erica Jones' put back at the rim. Christina Till hit two long three pointers in the opening quarter as well and the Huskies led 22-8 after the opening stanza.

With time running down in the second quarter, Leah Harrison hit a floater in the lane. Her basket gave Hewitt a 35-22 lead at the half. The Huskies would extend the lead in the second half and would cruise to the win,

Erica Jones led Coach Tonya Hunter's team with 17 points. Leah Harrison also had a productive night on offense as she added 14 points. The win assures that Hewitt will compete in the Northeast Regional at Jacksonville State University next week.
