Friday night's Boys Basketball game vs Huntsville did not look promising for the home
team for most of the night. In the end, the Huskies put together a huge 4th quarter
comeback to come away with a 57-54 win. Hewitt improved to 14-6 overall on the year and
finished with a 4-2 record in Area play. Grissom lost to Gadsden City Friday night, so the
Huskies and Grissom finished tied for first place. A coin flip on Monday will determine
which team hosts the area tournament.
The first quarter was fast paced with both teams performing well on the offensive end.
Hewitt hit a late basket to take a 16-14 lead. The second quarter was dominated by
Huntsville. The Huskies only scored four points in the quarter and the Panthers took a
28-20 lead into halftime.
The third quarter didn't go well for Hewitt either. Huntsville led the game by 14 points late
in the third quarter. That is when the comeback began. The Huskies finally were able to hit
some key three pointers. Senior Damon Harper hit two free throws to give the Huskies the
lead with under a minute left. Huntsville trailed by three points in the final seconds, and
were unable to connect on a long shot to tie the game. Harper led Hewitt in scoring as he
scored 20 points in his last regular season home game.
After three non-area games this week the Huskies will compete in the Area Tournament.
