Girls Basketball Undefeated in Holiday Event

The Hewitt-Trussville Girls Basketball team went 2-0 in the 2017 U.S. Marine Corps BallN Holiday Invitational. The event was held December 28-30 at Thompson High School. Over 50 teams from across the country participated in the event.

HT 55 Sidney Lanier 33
On December 28, the Huskies defeated Sidney Lanier 55-33. Coach Tonya Hunter's team got off to a fast start and led 13-6 after the opening quarter. Hewitt would continue to build on the lead before halftime. Leah Harrison scored nine first half points and went on to score 13 points in the game. London Coleman and Amiya Payne also played well as they scored 11 points each.

HT 59 Daluth (GA) 24
On December 29, Hewitt got off to a fast start and cruised to a 59-24 win over Daluth (GA). Freshman Amiya Payne led the Huskies with 23 points. Leah Harrison added 17 points. Senior London Coleman shared the ball well as she finished with 10 assists to go along with eight points.

The Huskies enter 2018 with an overall record of 14-2 and 2-0 in 7A Area 7. Hewitt will host Pell City on January 2. Tip-off is scheduled for 6pm.
