The Hewitt-Trussville Girls Cross Country team finished 8th in the AHSAA State Meet on Saturday. It was the highest finish since 2013 for the ladies. The Huskies finished ahead of Oak Mountain, James Clemens, Fairhope, and Prattville. Only the top 12 teams in the state competed in the event.

Over 135 of the best runners in the state competed in the race on Saturday. The Huskies had two runners place in the top 40 overall. Sydney Hall finished 36th and Amelia Brady finished 37th. Head Coach Anita Dobbs was happy with the teams' performance. "We knew it would be tough to qualify for State because of the competition. For these girls to qualify, then have a top 10 finish is great. We are very proud of them."
