CROSS COUNTRY TO HOST HUSKY CHALLENGE
The Hewitt-Trussville Cross Country teams will host the 26th annual Husky Challenge on
Saturday October 21. Head Varsity Boys Coach David Dobbs is looking forward to the
event. "We are expecting a huge crowd this weekend. We are excited that our supporters
will be able to come out and watch our one and only home meet."
The Varsity Cross Country teams have performed well this season. The Boys team has
competed in five events and they have finished in the top six on three occasions. The
team won the St. Clair County Invitational earlier this year. The Girls team has also raced
five times so far this year. They have finished in the top seven on three different occasions.
A strong field will join the Huskies this weekend. Teams scheduled to compete include:
Ashville, Carver, Chelsea, Hoover, Huffman, Jefferson Christian, John Carroll, Leeds,
Montevallo, Moody, Mountain Brook, Oak Mountain, Parker, Pelham, Pinson Valley, St.
Clair County, Shades Valley, Shelby County, Springville, Susan Moore, Wenonah, and
The Huskies are expecting a large crowd Saturday. Fans are encouraged to arrive early.
Parking will be available at Hewitt-Trussville Stadium and Hewitt-Trussville High School.
Races will begin on the multi-purpose field near the Stadium and will end on the track
inside the Stadium. Concessions will be available.
Trussville City School Athletics Director Lance Walker said, "Our Cross Country teams
are off to a great start this year. We are expecting beautiful weather Saturday morning. I
hope to see a lot of people from the community at this event."
