Hewitt-Trussville defeated Center Point 59-0 on Friday night to wrap up the 2017 Homecoming week festivities. With the win, the Huskies improved to 5-0 Overall and 3-0 in 7A Region 4. The Huskies defense was dominant as they held their opponent scoreless for the second straight week.

Senior Myles Mason got the team on the board in the first quarter as he scored from 12 yards out. Next, the defense got in on the action as they recorded their first safety of the game which gave the Huskies a 9-0 lead. Kicker Parker Colburn then got in on the scoring as he kicked a 24 yard field goal to extend the lead to 12-0. The defense once again recorded a safety as they sacked the Center Point quarterback in the end zone to give the team a 14-0 lead. Before halftime, quarterback Paul Tyson connected with Antonio Reed to give the squad a 21-0 lead going into halftime.

The Huskies offense moved the ball well in the second half as they racked up 244 yards of offense during the final two quarters. Tyson threw a touchdown pass to Senior Logan Pitts to begin the second half scoring. The defense was impressive in the second half as well. Reigning USA Today Player of the Week Trevor Sisk intercepted a pass and returned it for a touchdown. The Huskies defense did not allow the Center Point offense to enter the red zone all night. Head Coach Josh Floyd was proud of the defensive effort. "The defense scored points tonight. That was awesome. Any time you're able to get points on the board on defense; that's huge."

The Huskies will hit the road on Friday October 6 as they travel to Huntsville to meet Bob Jones. This will be a key Region 4 battle as the teams enter the game tied for first place with a 3-0 region record. The game will be played at Madison City Schools Stadium and will kick off at 7pm.
