Hewitt-Trussville defeated Buckhorn 49-0 on Friday night. With the win the Huskies improved to 4-0 overall on the year and 3-0 in 7A Region 4.

The Huskies had a balanced offensive attack and were once again led by Junior quarterback Paul Tyson as he completed 10 of 18 passes for 235 yards and three touchdowns. Myles Mason led the Huskies on the ground as he ran for 87 yards on three carries.

Elliot McElwain had 96 yards receiving, Logan Pitts had 66 yards receiving, and Malachi Moore has 63 yards receiving.

The Huskies took the opening drive and scored when Mason ran it in from 14 yards out. On the next Husky drive, Tyson completed a seven yard pass to McElwain and the Huskies led 14-0.

The Hewitt-Trussville offense was effective the rest of the half. The Huskies scored on their next three possessions and took a 35-0 lead into halftime.

Malachi Moore got in on the scoring in the second half as he took and short pass and raced 63 yards for another touchdown. The defense was also impressive as they completed the first shutout of the season. Coach Josh Floyd was pleased with the defensive performance. "Our coaches did a great job of preparing those guys this week and I'm just proud of our guys."

Center Point will visit Hewitt-Trussville Stadium on September 29 for the 2017 Homecoming game. The game will kick off at 7pm.
