Hewitt-Trussville hosted the Husky Invitational on Saturday September 23. The Huskies finished the event with three wins and three losses. The event featured 16 teams from around the state. Each team played three pool play games to start the event. After pool play, the teams were split into two 8-team brackets. Chelsea finished the event undefeated and captured the tournament championship.

The Huskies started the day with a pool play game against Indian Springs. It was a competitive game and Hewitt came out on top winning 2-1. Next, the Huskies faced eventually tournament champion Chelsea. The team got off to a great start as they had a convincing win in the first game. Chelsea came back won the next two games to take the match 2-1. In the last pool play game, the Huskies fell to Mortimer Jordan 2-0.

After pool play the Huskies were placed into the Silver bracket. In the quarterfinals Hewitt played Montevallo, Coach Riggins' team had an impressive performance and won 2-0. The win allowed the Huskies to move on to face Carver Montgomery. Hewitt continued to play well and defeated Carver 2-0. The Huskies played Springville for the Silver bracket championship. It was a back and forth match that saw Springville prevail 2-1.

The Huskies will be back in action on Tuesday as they travel to Clay-Chalkville. The match will begin at approximately 6pm.
